Different faiths have different ways of observing fasts. In Islam, roza or fasting in the holy month of Ramzan has a special significance and has been regarded as a farz or duty . It is one of the five pillars on which the edifice of Islam rests and it is only next in importance to namaz, the obligatory five-timesa-day prayers. It is the duty of every adult, sane and able Muslim to keep a fast for a whole month to make a person self-restrained and humble.
Roza is done out of deep love for God with genuine devotion, honest dedication and closeness to Allah. But mere abstinence from dawn to dusk is not roza in the real sense. In general terms, roza means abstaining from food, drink and physical intimacy .However, when we study its inner concept, we realise it to be the fasting of the heart, from unworthy concerns and worldly thoughts, in total disregard of everything but Allah.

Then send us your Zakaatul-Fitr payment and in shaa.-Allaah we shall distribute it in the legislated manner to the poor & needy on your behalf.
Regarding this, Shaykh Ibn Baaz was asked: I dispatched the Zakaatul-Fitr, specifically pertaining to myself, to my family so that they can discharge it in my country. is this action correct?
And the Shaykh responded: [This is] not a problem, [and] you shall be rewarded in shaa.-allaah. discharging it in your area is better, so that you discharge it to the needy in the area in whch you reside, and this is better. However, if you dispatched it to your family to discharge it to the needy in your country then that is not a problem.

During Ramadhan, Please Spare A Thought For The Poor!
Lavish Iftar parties have become part of Ramadan. But let us spare a thought to the deprived sections of the Muslim society who toil the entire day and complete their Iftar at a roadside Dhaba.
Ramadan is the month of fasting. It is nothing unusual about Muslims fasting in Ramadan. But there are a slew of Muslims whose fasting is quite noteworthy as compared to the other Muslims keeping the fast.

Apostasy And Islam: Saying 'No' To Faith And Reason
As the debate about what pushes the young towards radicalisation gathers momentum with the rise of the Islamic State, Yogesh Pawar speaks to young Muslims who are shunning not just radicalisation but the religion itself.
Fakeer Mohamed Althafi speaks so softly that you have to strain to hear him. The 32-year-old physiotherapist from Tamil Nadu says he’s been an introvert since childhood and loves blending into the background. At the bachelor’s pad which he shares with a trio of peers in midtown Mumbai, he insists that no more details about his address be given. “If someone found out where I lived,” he explains, “they could come attack me or worse.”
